What is Inositol

Inositol is considered a vitamin, but it is actually not a real vitamin. Nevertheless, Inositol is classified as B vitamins and is also called vitamin B7 or vitamin B8. In the Netherlands they use a different B classification as in Germany and America, so there is sometimes some confusion about this. It can be produced by the body itself and can be obtained from food. This vitamin is water-soluble, which means that part of the food can be lost during washing and cooking. It is responsible for various processes in the body. Inositol influences, among other things, the process by which neurotransmitters are produced but also processes of fatty acid metabolism, bile formation and insulin action.
